Paint Party Friday - Daisies

I seem to be getting into a habit of posting late on Paint Party Friday. I didn't have anything prepared, so I had to do a painting this morning. The weather has been so good this week that I spent most of my time in the garden, lounging about, reading a fantastic book, The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry.

I don't usually recommend books, as everyone has their own taste, but I would encourage anyone who has an interest in reading to pick up a copy of this novel.

It's set in 1893, and the main character is Cora Seaborne. When her husband dies, freeing her from an abusive marriage, Cora, her son and her friend Martha move to the countryside.  It isn't long before Cora hears rumours about  the mysterious 'Essex Serpent.'

She sets off in pursuit of the creature and along the way she meets the local minister, William Ransome. Cora believes that science has the answers she is looking for, while Ransome is a man of deep faith. They disagree on everything, but in spite of this the pair find themselves drawn to each other in ways neither of them imagined.
I don't want to give too much of the plot away, so I wont say any more. But I do recommend getting a copy of this enthralling book. It's one of the best reads I've had in a long time.

Anyway, here's my effort for PPF this week. Again, I've stuck to my roots, watercolour.

I hope you like it, and have a great weekend.

Paint Party Friday - Late

I'm a bit late posting on PPF today. I had a hospital appointment this morning, which went on a lot longer than I'd expected it would. I have an appointment with my GP later, so this is going to be quite a short post.

I've decided to return to my more traditional watercolour roots for a while. The little painting below is the first painting like this I've done in quite some time. Hope you like it.

Have a great weekend.
