Paint Party Friday - Just for Fun

Considering what day it is, and the part of the world I call home, most folk would probably expect me to post a drawing emblazoned with shamrocks, or leprechauns or something similar today. But I’m not. I’ll see enough of those as it is.

Instead, I’ve decided to post a couple of  drawings which I did in my journal this week just for a bit of fun. I used my Inktense pencils and a water-brush for both drawings. When I use Inktense pencils I don't do any sketching, I just dive in and see what happens. I find working like this very relaxing, and I think it's a great way to loosen up those creative muscles.

The first is based on my aquarium, where I keep a variety of Mollies. Mind you, the fish in the drawing looks nothing like any of those.

The second is based on my local park, where I sometimes take a walk.

Hope you like them, and hope you have a great weekend.

Paint Party Friday - I am the Sun

I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post; close to a year. But that’s the way it goes sometimes. The days turn into weeks, the weeks turn into months and so on and so on.

My absence has been due in part to illness and family commitments, but mostly illness, which causes me so much pain in my hands that even the simplest of tasks become impossible.

I find this extremely frustrating, as self-expression plays such an important part in my life. I have suffered from anxiety and depression for most of my life, and during the most difficult times I found that being creative really helped to alleviate the symptoms. I think that being lost in one’s own creative bubble is probably one of the best ‘anxiety busters’ around.

Anyway, I miss very much the thrill of writing, painting and drawing, so I’ve decided that I need to start doing something. I’ve recently started a new project, an art journal, which I hope will give me the incentive to keep going. The page below is one of my newest efforts.

I’ve decided to call the drawing, I am the Sun – The Giver of Life.  You can enlarge the image by clicking on it.
