On The Beach

The weather lately has been unusually fine for the time of year, and when the conditions allow I like to get out and about as much as I can. On Saturday I spent the day at the beach with my wife and daughter. We built a giant sandcastle, had a picnic and collected driftwood, which I intend to use to make sculptures for the back garden.

These family outings are great for doing some photography, too. I like to travel light all of the time, and occasions like this are no different. I take my camera and a single lens, typically my trusty 50mm.

Some photographers I know wouldn’t leave the house without tons of gear. But I find that having less equipment at my disposal means I have to think more about the shot I’m taking.

It’s great fun. Why not give it a go?
