Every now and then I like to give myself a little treat. Usually I buy this 'gift to me' around Christmas, but this year I waited a few months, until the weather was a bit better and more suited to my outdoor photography, and I bought a new lens for my camera.
I'd been thinking about getting a new lens for a while and after doing some research I opted for the AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8g. I already have a 'nifty fifty,' so the 35mm seemed like just the job. I wanted a lens that would let me get more of the scene into the frame, and that I could use in low light especially when doing some street photography.
I haven't been using this lens for long, but so far it has been ideal for my purposes. It is sharp, though not quite as sharp as my fifty I feel, and it appears its 'sweet spot' is between f4 - f5.6. And it gives wonderful 'bokeh.' I don't want to get too technical but you can judge for yourself by visiting my photostream here.
I can't wait for my next opportunity to get out and about with this little lens.
